1.  OS: DO YOU WANT TO CHOOSE ANDROID OR IPHONE?

First of all, if your budget is less than RM1500, then an Android is a suitable smartphone for you.

Android is the operating system for the world's most popular smartphone. Samsung, Huawei, HTC, P30 Pro, S10 - All for Android.

If you are a Google product user (Gmail, Google Drive…), then choose android.

Free, paid, useful and unuseful apps are available at Google Play.

Besides android product is cheap.

Why pay RM1500 for an iPhone when we can get the same specifics android handset for RM500?  This is the only thing Apple can answer it.

iPhone or iOS may not be popular in the world, but it's a great choice in western countries.

The main reason people choose iPhones is that they are stylish, class-based, and easy to use. One more, if you already have Apple stuff like Mac or iPad, choose the iPhone.  Easy to manage things like iCloud and more.

(Note) Apple's newest smartphone, the iPhone XS Max costs about RM5K.

So, do you want an iPhone or Android?

2. PROCESSOR, RAM AND INTERNAL STORAGE

Before I ask you a little question.  What would you use a mobile phone for?

If you just make a call, send msg, use some apps once (WhatsApp, Facebook and internet) you don't have to worry about these

A good processor allows you to do anything on your mobile phone smoothly, without lagging and other issues (like crashes).

The 3 best processors today are A12 Bionic, Exynos 9820> and Snapdragon 855.

RAM memory stores the apps that you have open for processor's use.

RAM lets you change apps you open without having to restart them.

For example, while you're watching youtube, WhatsApp messages suddenly arrive.  You open WhatsApp and then reply to the message and after reply, you, go back to youtube and resume what you saw earlier.

This is because RAM 'saves' (or remembers) the information your apps open.  You don't have to go back to youtube, then look back at the video.

The bigger the RAM, the more apps it can handle.

The standard now requires 4GB of RAM for stress-free to use.

Internal storage is also space for you to store apps, videos and photos. More bigger is better. If budget is not your problem then choose one of the following smartphones:

• Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus RM4,199

• Huawei P30 Pro RM3,399

• iPhone XS Max RM5,399

• OnePlus 7 Pro RM3,699

If you have a specific budget, for example, budget to buy hp below RM1000, maximize what we can get out of that amount.

For most users (normal) specifications like Kirin 710 processor, 4GB RAM and 32 Internal storage are ok.

Enough to avoid lag when doing activities like games, youtube, movies and so on.
But consider the other part as well.

3. SCREEN SIZE AND QUALITY

For screen size and quality there are a few things to keep in mind:

• Size of your hand - Big or small of the palm, especially for women/girls.

• How you use hp

• The main purpose of using hp - Games, watch movies, movies, or apps only.

If you are a very busy person, whose hands are never free, choose a small size.

If you are a gamer or handheld, the only place you have ever seen a movie is, take the largest size.

For screen quality always choose the highest resolution. The higher the resolution, the better the screen display.

There are 3 categories for screen resolution:

• Quad HD = 2560 x 1140 pixels

• Full-HD = 1920 x 1080 pixels

• HD = 1280 x 720

4. BATTERY CAPACITY - MINIMUM 3000MAH

When buying a smartphone you can choose a battery with a capacity of over 3000mAh.  The bigger the better. Battery durability depends on your level of use.  If you have a standard 3000mAh battery, you open 4G all the time, play games, watch youtube, you should have to charge it every day.

 5. HOW TO RATE A CAMERA

For smartphone cameras, the most important thing to consider is MP (Megapixel) - how many MPs are cameras. The bigger MP, the better camera for the smartphone is.

(Note) The Huawei P30 is a great example of a handphone camera which has a wide-angle/standard, ultra-wide and telephoto lenses.

6. BODY DESIGN

This one depends on you.  Everyone has their own taste. The basic shape of the handphone is rectangular.  Some are thin, some are thicker, the corners are sharp and so on.

 7. ADDITIONAL OTHER FUNCTIONS

The extra functionality on a handphone is a bonus for you especially if you make the choice between multiple smartphones at the same price (after all). Other functions include fingerprint security, wireless charging, waterproofing and more. When you find several similar smartphones in all the above categories you will select based on this additional functionality.

 8. MAKE SURVEY, DECIDE YOUR OPTION!

The most interesting part will determine your final choice. Once you understand the above it is time for you to do a survey to determine which smartphone is best for you.
